Mu Iota Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce our 2026 Talent Hunt Competition! This year’s competition will be held on March 21, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Columbus Performing Arts Center 549 Franklin Ave Columbus, OH 43215.

 

The competition, which has been one of our fraternity's national mandated programs since 1946, is open to all Central Ohio charter, public, private, and parochial high school students, grades 9-12. The program intends to identify and support our youth in their pursuit of excellence in the performing arts.

 

• First-place prize is $1500.00

• Second-place prize is $750.00

• Third-place prize is $500.00

 

Music: Vocal and instrumental: classical, contemporary (i.e. Broadway, gospel, jazz, movie score, Top 40).  A printed copy of the music (score) is required for the judges to analyze.

 

Dance: hip hop, ballet, modern dance, jazz, and tap.

 

Dramatic Interpretation: rap, poetry, oration, monologue, etc. (Printed script must be provided for each judge).

 

Visual Art: Sculpture, photography, drawing and painting. (3 to 5 pieces for judging).

 

The first-place contestant will compete with other winners in the Calvin H. Thomas 4th District Talent Hunt Competition in Canton, Ohio, on April 18, 2026. This competition includes chapters in the states of Ohio and West Virginia. 

 

The first-place contestant in the Calvin H. Thomas 4th District Talent Hunt will advance to the 2026 Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. International Talent Hunt Demonstration to be held  August 1, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

 

The Talent Hunt provides exposure, encouragement, and financial assistance to talented high school students in grades 9 through 12.  Students compete for scholarships and the opportunity to showcase their talent to a distinguished group of judges.
